I have created a form in Designer using a font called Trubetzkoy for some characters. When preview the form as a pdf and when I save the form as a pdf the Trubetzkoy characters do now show. To test that the font worked in a PDF, I created a PDF using the font in Microsoft Word and the characters did display. It is only when I preview the PDF in Designer or save my form as PDF in designer that the font is not displayed. For this reason, I think that it is something that I am doing wrong in Designer. The font is in my list of fonts in my control panel. It is not in my list of fonts in Designer. I read the help information in Acrobat and it mentioned that creating a PostScript file first and then a PDF from Distiller can find any errors. However, I can not see the option to create a PostScript file in Designer.
Per Carl Young's Tip at:

"Designer cannot embed Type 1 fonts, even though Distiller will embed those fonts without a problem. The reason has to do with the lack of explicit font embedding permissions in older Type 1 fonts."
You can create a Postscipt file by selecting the "Print to File" box in the Designer Print menu. However, you'll need to place your form fields on this newly created PDF.
Hope this helps,
