helvetica substitution

when I produce documents with helvetica in them under linux acroread complains 1. the file is damaged and being repaired
2. could not find a font in the resource dictionary - using helvetica
3. cannot find or create the font helvetica some characters may not display properly...
4. displays all the helvetica text as bullets

Since no one else has answered this one for six weeks, I'll have a go.

First, I have never even seen Distiller running under linux. Is Distiller your creation tool, or something else? Make sure you embed all fonts. Reader may be confused by a HelveticaBold on one platform and the identical font being named Helvetica-Bold on another.
