How to disable "deskew"

Can anyone tell me how to disable the deskew "feature" of Acrobat 8? It doesn't matter whether I set it to "disable" or "on", my scans are automatically rotated a few degrees to where the software thinks it's straight. What if I don't want it rotated? How do I make it stop?

Of course, Tech Support doesn't respond.

It's possible that this is happening through your scanner's native interface if you've turned this off in Acrobat. Have you tried turning this off in your scanning software? If the native interface is turned off, you can turn it back on under the Acrobat Scan menu in the Scanner Options dialog.

It's not the scanner. After I finish scanning, Acrobat has a series of progress bars that it displays near the bottom of the screen as it does its post-processing. One of them is for deskewing and rotating the page -- even though I have that option turned OFF! Even so, I've searched, and, as far as I can tell, my scanner has no deskew option.

Did you get any resolution on this? I've been having the same problem with some engineering documents where Adobe wants to deskew images of pipes that are slightly angled on the page. We've gone through all the settings, tried various drivers, even various systems and scanners, and it's still doing it. The only solution we've found is to do it within a third-part application and save it as a PDF.
