Hi there,
I've been publishing ebooks for several years by creating the manuscripts in Microsoft Word and then using the toolbar/commands provided by Adobe Acrobat Pro to conver the document to a PDF. The particular PDF-conversion features that I value are the conversion of specified styles (like Heading 1) to bookmarks, and the conversions of links created via the Hyperlink feature to internal links in the PDF.
Because we are primarily a Mac shop, we use Word for Windows only for this step. So, we are a little behind on the upgrade path, running Word 2003. If upgrading would correct the problem I'm having, well, please let me know!
A particular ebook has little graphics that float in the margin. Using the Hyperlink feature, we've loaded those graphics with URLs, so that - in the final ebook PDF - if a reader click the graphic, a particular URL loads in their Web browser. Unfortunately, the PDF converter doesn't seem to be seeing those URLS and hence the graphics are not "hot" in the PDF - there's no link box showing at all for them.
I gather there may be third-party utilities that would help with this? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
