Layered pdf and form buttons taking a long time to update

I have been using Deep Exploration and Acrobat to create complex layered documents with a 3D component. Deep Exploration leverages the forms functionality of Acrobat to create dynamic javascript controls.

I have noticed that when a layered pdf is used, the time to update any button is increased to a few seconds (up to 10). Updating includes moving and resizing. This makes creation painfully slow. Does anyone know if there is something I am missing to make this process faster?

Another side effect of using the Deep Exploration API is that the purple form bar is active when the final pdf is opened. Is there any way of turning this off?

TIA

Tim

For the forms message bar problem, are buttons the only type of field you're using? If so, if you set the document security to prevent form filling, the buttons will still work but the message bar won't get displayed.

I will test this and see if it works with Deep Exploration created pdf. I see no reason why it wouldn't!!

Thanks for your time!

Changing security removes the purple button/bar from the pdf. Unfortunately it also removes all Deep Exploration functionality (cursor still changes to hand, though nothing happens...)

The trouble is that Acrobat Preferences are set to show the blue highlight as the default. You can turn off highlighting but it will always depend on the user's local preferences setting for highlighting. The blue that highlights fields and selected items in lists can be changed to a different color in the doc's preferences but I can't see any way to turn that off completely.
