In-line Embedded Links pointing to Attached Files?

I can attach files to a PDF, such that a reader can access them via the paperclip icon. However, I'd prefer to place an embedded hyperlink in-line in the PDF's text, which would auto-open an attached file.

Is this possible? Maybe I'm searching on the wrong words but I can't seem to find where others have asked this particular question. I would guess it should be possible, given that the PDF is being used as a container and the relative path to any attachment is thus known.

Thanks for any how-to advice on this.

Yes, you can do that, but don't attach the file as a comment. In Acrobat 9 you'd add it by selecting: Document -- Attach a File

You can achieve the same thing in Acrobat 10, but I don't recall the selections you need to make.

Once you have the PDFs attached, add a new link to the main PDF, select an action of "Go to a page view", open the attached PDF to the location you want to link to, and click the "Set Link" button. You can then edit the link properties if you always want it to open in a new window.

Thanks George, I'll try that. If I can make it work, I think I'm there. I appreciate your clear reply. - Mike

I just realized the files you're attaching may not be PDF, which is what I assumed they were. What type of files are you attaching?
