Lines and Table-borders when creating PDFs out of MS Office documents?

Hi:

When I create PDF-Files out of Microsoft Office Documents table-borders are not displayed in the same quality as when I create a PDF-File from the same table out of Acrobat InDesign:
The created PDFs look good at a magnification of 156%, but when zooming in or out the borders look awful or disappear completely.

It seems to be more a problem of the Word-Documents, since Acrobat Distiller uses the same Settings for both applications.
Is there a way to get better results with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat?

Please advise me what to do.

Best regards,

Hannes

Hi --

Word table borders are notorious for converting to poor looking PDF versions. The best option is to use a simple border. Any thickness is fine, but stay away from the 3D effects and multiple-line borders as each item on a border is converted as a separate object.

Has anyone found a fix for this? We use tables for quite a few documents on our web page, and the lines and borders look amateurish, not professional at all. Lack of consistency in the thickness of the lines no matter what size I change them to. If I use a 1.5 point line, it at least prints all of the lines, but there is a lack of consistency in thickness. If I use a smaller (1 point), some of the lines don't print at all. We are using simple lines -- nothing fancy! Thanks!
