Hello together!
I am having an examn next week based upon a 600 paged pdf.
We are allowed to bring everything we want, including the pdf stated above.
My idea was to print an index of a few pages and take it with me.
I have the pdf file opened in acrobat 9 pro, and there is a valid embedded index.
I would like to "extract" this index to a printable format.
Is this possible?
Is it possible to add an index to the document intself, as in books?
Thanks in advance,
feldlurch

If this device has Adobe Reader available then the embedded or catalog index should suffice.
For ease of use, just go with the embedded index approach.
Using the Search command provides advance query (including Boolean).
If you've a comfortable grasp on the PDF's range of content you can find specifics quickly.
If the PDF is not secured and you have Acrobat, add Bookmarks for the Chapter and first 3 heading levels.
(Or, use a logical hierarchy appropriate to that in use within the PDF.)
Nest these appropriately. This gives you a "TOC" for rapid navigation.
For added value, add appropriate annotations to page content.
Decide on a schema for usage of the annotations.
These annotations (Comments & Markup) will be available not only on any given page but also in the Comments List pane.
In this window, you can filter on annotation types (have a schema for usage leverages this capability).
Spice this up by making use of the different icons available for the Sticky Note annotation (something like 15 different icons are available).
Create file that provides the schema overview. Convert to PDF. Insert this PDF into the source PDF for ease of use.
