mapping? click on an area of an image to place an "x" or an "o"

Something to consider -

The Checkbox tool from the Forms toolbar can be configured to display a "cross" ("x") or a circle (having an interior that is filled).

The "Place Multiple Fields" selection (from the form field's context menu) lets you create a grid of checkboxes.

Configure Acrobat's Preferences > Select the Category "Units & Guides".
In the Units & Guides configuration pane use "Layout Grid" values to provide
an appropriately sized layout grid. Display the grid via key strokes Ctrl+U
(Command+U on Mac (?)).

Use the layout grid's squares to place the checkbox to match a grid square.
Use Place Multiple Fields to built a collection of checkboxes over the body image.
Delete individual fields as needed.

To differentiated between "x" & "o" will likely require use of so Acrobat JavaScript.
But that is something one of the more JavaScript knowledgable AUC members would have to address.

May be a more elegant approach; but, do the above could be interesting .Be well...

I was able to enable the grid so I can place my check boxes over the body image. However, I do want the boxes invisible (or white) so the image appears clear to the user. Then when the user "clicks" on a section of the body, a checkmark or circle appears.

I figured out how to make the check box without a border, but when I open the form in Acrobat Reader, the box interior is a shade of blue (not clear or white). I went through the Preferences panes and did not see what I was looking for.

Any suggestions?

Something to try -

For each Check Box, in Check Box Properties under the Appearance tab, select "no color" for Fill Color; and, perhaps do the same for Border Color.

In Acrobat Preferences, select the Forms category.
In the "Highlight Color" pane make 'Fields highlight color" match the PDF page(s) background color.
Or, untick "Show border hover color for fields".

I see the issue - it is the version of Reader that turns on/off form fields. When I turned it off, the fields were invisible.
