merging 2000 large pdfs into one pdf

I'm trying to merge 2000 pdfs that are each 2 or 3 pages and their size is 400kb into one pdf. I can do this manually with about 100 at a time but if I try to do all at once it crashes. Once I have put all the documents into one pdf it is so large it takes 10 minutes to open.

The pdf documents have multiple fields in them and I was also wondering if there is a way to make them smaller and turn them into static documents that display the data that I have put in the forms but don't hav ethe fields identified anymore.

Thanks

Joe

You can use the PDF Optimizer to both audit the document content and flatten form fields in Acrobat Pro 8. This is located under the Advanced --> PDF Optimizer menu. Audit Space Usage is located in the top right corner and to flatten form fields select the Discard Object panel. You'll probably want to make a backup copy of your file before you get started.
