My coworker created a PDF from Word, and it has a file size of 4.64MB and the PDF Producer is "Acrobat Distiller 8.1.0 (Windows). Now, when I created a PDF from Word on my own computer, using Acrobat Prof. 8.0, my document is twice the size (8.3) and produced by Adobe PDF Library 8.0. Why the difference?

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8, Windows

Does it say PDF Library, or does it say PDFMaker?

Explain step by step how you create the pdf, like which cion you click or which menu item you select.

Hi, I created the PDF from within Word 2007: I clicked the "create PDF" button and choose the 'quick and simple' version. (It does say PDF Library in the properties); oddly enough, every time I try to transfer a file from within my Acrobat 8.1, I get an error: "Adobe PDFMaker cannot create PDF". Is this the real problem? I have recently installed this Adobe software. Thank you.

Are you making a PDF of the exact same document? From Acrobat Professional, use the PDF Optimizer function to Audit Space Usage. This will tell you what types of objects are taking up so much space. Typically it is high resolution images. If that is the case, use PDF Optimizer to downsample the images.
