No trailer in newly created PDFs

One of our major vendors is having problems because some of our PDFs no longer contain the trailer. Apparently their system sees the lack of a trailer as an invalid PDF. Only seeing this with those using Acrobat 9 to create files. Is this a change in the PDF file structure specification or something we are doing? These are all documents that are scanned, then OCRd for use online search and retrieval. Files from those using Acrobat 8 still have the trailer.
Thanks,
Ron

I am having a similar issue. Modified a PDF form using Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard edition, and the new form does not contain the trailer. When populating the forms programatically, the trailer is not found, and the form is not completed. Were you able to determine why the trailer was missing? Is there a special way you have to save the file in Adobe? or some special linking or configuration that you have to do before saving?

Thanks,

Kevin

It's still a mystery to me. We have several different contractors generating PDFs for the archive. Most use Acrobat 8 or 9, on Win or Mac. We just started noticing it with our Pay-Per-View vendor's system not recognizing the PDFs made with Acrobat 9 becuase they do not have a trailer.

I looked into getting a copy of the PDF Standard, but really don't feel we should have to pony up $300+ for a copy of the ISO standard for PDF and still maybe not have an answer. I was hoping that someone on this forum would see this and add their experience or knowledge to the question, as this is usually THE place for answers and explanations on all things Acrobat.

It would help a lot if there was just a fairly simple way to add this trailer to the problem PDFs before pushing them live.

Best,
Ron

I am using Acrobat Standard version 9 and am experiencing the same problems - no trailer. Save your $300.00. If I find a solution, I will let you know. - Kevin
