Page Size nightmare

Hi,
I am using Acrobat 8 standard.

I am trying to create a pdf document in 5x8 size. However, no matter what I do it comes out at 8.5x11 OR 5.5x8.5

Here's how I've been going about this:
Word 2007
Print --> select Acrobat pDF ---> Properties ---> Added (created the page size I want).
This does not work.

Another method was:
Word 2007 --> print ---> Select Acrobat PDF ---> Properties ---> Quality/Paper ---> Advanced ---> selected page size (didn't work) or Postscript custom (didn't work).

Even more odd is that when in Word 2007 and press the Convert to PDF button I do finally get away from the 8.5x11 but ends up being 5.5x8.5 which is no good to me!!!!

I've read that this is a known problem for Acrobat 8. How do we get round this issue?
I searched this forum but only found one other post which had no answers.
Help!!!

ETA: I have also done the following which didn't work:
Create a custom page size (Windows)
Do one of the following:
Open the Printers or Printer And Faxes window from the Start menu. Right-click the Adobe PDF printer, and choose Printing Preferences.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Standard 8.1, Windows

I assume that the size of your page in Word is 5x8, right?

Yeah, sorry forgot to say that bit. Have the Word document sized at 5x8.
Any ideas on what I need to do? I've heard this is a major bug in Acrobat 8 standard but I cannot believe Acrobat would not have put an update out to solve something as serious as this...... Maybe I'm wrong and I just wasted all that money :(

One simple way out is to use the "quick and simple" radio button on the save as dialog after you invoke the "Create PDF" button. Will let you know if I can find anything more.

I have Professional 8.1.4, here's a quick experiment I did which worked:
Control Panel>Printers>Adobe PDF>Printing Preferences>Adobe PDF Settings
Adobe PDF page size>Add
Give a new name and enter 5x8.
Apply/Save and close all dialogs

Now use the Create PDF button or print to Adobe PDF printer from Word 2007.

Thank you soooo much for your help!
*holds head in shame* Someone I sent my document to just pointed out that my Word file isn't 5x8 it is actually 5.5x8.5. I hadn't realised this becuase in Word I had set it up in mm several months ago and in Acrobat I was setting it up in inches.
I have now successfully converted it to 5x8!!!!

Do I feel silly or what?!!! So sorry!
But thank you for your help - much appreciated!!!
