Password protected PDF files?

Hello... I am wondering if Acrobat has an option to create secure password protected PDF files? I'm interested in writing an ebook, but would like to limit who can view it.

I have an old piece of software that does this, but anyone that wants to read a book has to download special software... and it's kind of a hassle.

Has anyone out there done this before?
