Hello rajdeepsokhi,

not that I could tell you what goes wrong, it would be helpful for anyone who could help you to know more about your problem.

1) platform
2) program version
3) log file if possible

Probable Solution: (this worked for me with word 2003 and vista 64)

go to control panel, printers

edit the properties on the PDF Printer

two settings must be set for this to work properly

1. under the ports tab, adobe pdf cannot be set to lpt1 or com1 or some such port
it must be set to Documents\*.pdf (near the bottom of the list of ports)
2. under the advanced tab, dont set spooling. click the little radio button next to "Print Directly to Printer"

that fixed the problem for me
good luck

I, too, had a problem trying to convert Microsoft Office DOC or XLS files to PDF. I was using Acrobat 8 and Office 2003 under Windows Vista Home Premium SP2. I suddenly found that the PDF was not getting created in the destination folder, even tho an alias was created in the Recent Documents list under the Start menu. There was no error indication. I noticed this shortly after SP2 was applied to Vista and Acrobat was updated to 8.1.3, so both of these changes were under suspicion, but I could later rule them out. On a backup PC also running Vista SP2 I was able to install Acrobat 8 and update to 8.1.3, and could still make these PDFs. Reinstalling Acrobat 8 and updating it to 8.1.3 and even to 8.1.6 on my primary PC did not fix the problem.

Eventually I explored that Acrobat User Forum on PDF Creation and found a suggestion posted on 2009-01-05 by cute43guy. This solved my problem and probably the problem for which it was posted as a reply. Thank you!.

Looking in Start -> Settings -> Printers I saw not only Adobe PDF, but Adobe PDF (Copy 1) thru (Copy 5). The original had a long queue of print jobs pending, because it was set to spool instead of "Print Directly to the Printer" and/or because the port was COM1. After deleting the queue of print jobs I corrected the printer properties: port= Documents\*.pdf and "Print Directly to the Printer". I also deleted the extra copies. I immediately found I could make PDFs again from Word & Excel with one click (actually, two).

Here's the thing: I'm getting the same "pdf conversion process failed, please correct error and retry" message. I've tried to change the setting on my printer, but I then get the message "Printer Settings could not be saved. Operation could not be completed (error 0x0000070c)."

What do I do now? Please help me. I need Acrobat for my business. Thanks, everyone.

The post by LordShen is, I think, a completely different problem from the original "pdf conversion process failed" and probably more related to the OS than to Acrobat. The error code should probably be reported to Microsquash, but any further report should include the versions of OS and of Word (or Office) and Acrobat. Also, were the Adobe PDF Printer settings wrong (port=lpt1 and/or spool)? Can characteristics of other printers be changed? Since the Adobe PDF Printer is not working, try deleting it. If successful, a reinstall of Acrobat might restore the printer driver and its function. Good luck!

In my case, I had tried the repair option and also reinstalled the software. Neither option worked. What turned out to be my problem was somewhere in the process I ended up with 2 Adobe PDF printers. After I deleted 1 of the printers, the problem disappeared.
