I am creating maps using ArcInfo (ESRI product) and would like to create PDFs with layers controls for the viewers. What adobe product do I need? Can you refer me to any online documentation? Thank you.
In order to create PDFs with Adobe PDF Layers you need two things. First an appplication that supports layers and second exporting the layers to PDF (with Acrobat 6 and above compatibility).
If your application doesn't support exporting layers to Adobe PDF Layers, you'll need to create a workaround. Programs like Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign support exporting layers to PDF.
For design applications like those used with cartography, you might need to export to Illustraor .ai or EPS and bring each exported layer into a separate Illustrator layer, then take the compoisite with multiple layers and export to PDF.
