PDF From Multiple Excel Worksheets -- Missing and Duplicate Pages

I've read through a few posts regarding woes trying to create PDF from Excel, but have not seen this item addressed.

I'm using Standard 8.0 on XP Pro and when I use the "Create PDF" toolbar widget to create a PDF from multiple Excel worksheets I sometimes get bizarre results:
- Pages are saved out of order
- Bookmarks are not aligned with the correct worksheet names (on some pages)
- Some worksheets create multiple PDF pages (some with incorrect bookmarks)
- Some worksheets are skipped entirely

Each worksheet I am printing fits on a single page. In this example, each worksheet displays a chart and nothing more.

Today, I followed a tip from a coworker and removed the "Print Area" page setup from the worksheets (a previous user set up Print Areas to control actual printing, I suppose... seems like a reasonable thing to do.) Removing Print Area corrected all the PDF creation problems mentioned above.

Question is, the print areas wholly contained each of the charts, so why does that seem to be the problem? This seems like a failure of Acrobat to negotiate Excel's settings, and as such, quite buggy to me.
