PDF Optimizer Error

Trying to optimize a version 1.6 PDF back to 1.5.

Error pops up immediately that says, "An error was encountered while scanning the document for compatibility checks"

If I try to optimize to different versions ofther than 1.5, the error will pop up for attempts at versions 1.4 and 1.6 also.

When I try to optimize to 1.7, optimizer runs but then says "an error was encountered while saving the document."

I successfully optimize many similar documents every day without problems. Can't see anything different with this one.

Using Acrobat Pro 7 on a networked Windows XP SP2. Also using ISI toolbox plugin, version 5.5.1.

Thanks in advance for the help.

The file has since moved on to the great Recycle Bin in the sky, but if I run into the problem again, I will post here.

Thanks,
Brian

Hello I am in this Forum,

On version Adobe 7.0 Pro you have the Batch Processing Option, I had a sequence called REDUCE, that i used to process and optimize several PDF files at ones. The sequence was configured as follows:

1. Sequence of commands
Preflight
Flatten Layers
Delete all comments
Remove Embedded Page Thumbnails

2. Selected Folder
3. Selected Folder
Output options
PDF Optimizer
Settings - Custom - Compatible with Acrobat 5.0 or later

This simple Batch processing reduced my PDF files size to a 30% of the original file size.

IT updated my version to Adobe 8.0 Pro, I tryed to create the same sequence, but when setting up the PDF Optimizer and I try to save changes it ask for a name and right after clicking the OK botton I receive an error message saying.
"PDF Optimizer"
"An error was encountered while saving the document"

Can some one help with this.

Just a thought here, but did your profile on the local machine (your computer) get altered by IT when the application was installed?

Be well...

Just to tell everybody that maded the sequence work, when running the PDF optimizer directly there where no problems but whrn executing the sequence i had the problem.

so I decided to create the custom setting in one file when running the PDF optimizer directly and then i used that settings on my sequence and now everything is working ok.

Thanks
