PDF Printer not working

When I select the Adobe PDF for a printer in an application, I get a menu box stating "Creating Adobe PDF" and at about the three progress bar level, the box seems to stop. The file is never created.

Can you tell me how to diagnose this problem and how to get the PDF printer working again?

thanks,
Todd

Hi rubatoguy,

Before you can troubleshoot the problem you'll need to determine the cause (i.e., printer, PDF, OS, etc.). First, what version of Acrobat are you using and what OS? If it's any of the 64-bit Window OS's then only the recent 8.1 update supports these.
Also, there is a known issue with 64-bit versions of these operating systems which causes the Adobe PDF Printer to not work correctly. Microsoft has released a Hot Fix for this issue which is documented in Microsoft Knowledge Base Article #930627 available at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930627. Adobe has tested and will support the Adobe PDF Printer with this Hot Fix installed.

If you have an earlier supported OS then I recommend following the tips in the following technical note to determine the cause:

Lori

I am having the very same problem described....

Adobe 8 upgraded to 8.2.2.
A new Windows 7 machine, 32 bit
No other Adobe programs loaded (like reader).

It does this when the print command comes from firefox, IE, Microsoft office. or notepad.

It halts when it comes to

Creating Adobe PDF
PDF Progress: Stopped

Blue progress bar little more than half way.

There in lies the rub - Windows 7 support begins with Adobe Reader/Acrobat 9.2.

See Adobe's Acrobat FAQ for discussion of Windows 7 and Office 2010.

I am also having this problem.

Adobe 8 upgraded to 8.2.2.
Windows Vista Business, service pack 2
Distiller 8, Reader 9 & LiveCycle Designer 8 are also installed. When issuing the print command from Word 2007 or trying to create a Fully Functional pdf (I have no problem creating a Quick & Simple pdf from Word), it completely stops and no file is generated. It halts when it comes to:
Creating Adobe PDF
PDF Progress: Stopped
Blue progress bar little more than half way.

When creating a pdf from Excel and PowerPoint 2007, I get an error message, but no detail on what the error is.

I don't know that I really need to be able to create a fully functional pdf from Word, but I do need to figure out and fix the Excel and PowerPoint problem. I have Acrobat 9, but would rather not install my personal copy on my work computer.

Any help is ridiculously gratefully appreciated!

I recently upgraded to Adobe 9 and now cant print anything PDF. I have Window Vista. Ive done the trouble shooting listed on Adobe help site (uninstalled, reinstalled, tried to print as image) and it still doesnt work. I am able to print anything else-word,excel,emails,etc. What else could possibly be wrong?
