I am publishing a book on Lulu.

They need a PDF file in certain dimensions for a book cover.

I have completed the cover art as a .png file.

I have Acrobat READER 9.

It allows me to create a free PDF file using Acrobat.com

The .png (cover art) did not work, so I had to then save it as a JPG file.

I now have a JPG file which is the right size (approx. 18 by 11 inches) and 300 dpi. So I created a PDF File successfully and downloaded it to my desktop. So far so good. I then uploaded into Lulu.

Lulu says the PDF File is big (in dimension) It needs to be these exact settings: "1308.7 x 810 points."

How can I create a PDF file of those points? With the free web PDF creator I am using?

Just a nattering thought here, but -
Perhaps you could resize the original JPG to the size you need,with Microsoft PhotoEditor
(or a photo editing application you've installed), and use this to get a new PDF that will be acceptable.

Well, I can try working on it from that angle....

I am surprised there is no Acrobat or Adobe person who can answer my question.

Can Acrobat.com resize PDF? Lulu talks about Distiller.... but I don't know what Distiller is or if it is free. Thanks.

Why? After all, this is, predominately, an Acrobat Users Community and not the official Adobe support site.

Free? No. Adobe bundles Distiller with Acrobat (an individual user license).
Can also purchase Distiller server.
Basically, Distiller takes PostScript files and outputs PDF files.

I did solve my problem. I just created a new WORD document with the exact DIMENSIONS I was needing. That way, when I used Acrobat.com and created the PDF the size was taken care of.

So, in the end, I did not and could not create a resize in acrobat.com and I did not find a "distiller."

But WORD solved my problem.
