My OS is Windows XP Pro with 2 Gb RAM 200 Gb HDD and 3.2 GHz Intel Processor.

Using Acrobat 8 Pro direct (on default settings) to create PDFs, I notice that the size of the created PDF is approx 3 times that of one created by scanning the data into MS Word 2000 and then printing as a PDF.

Any idea why & what can I do to sort it ??

Thanks

Try this. From the menu bar click Advanced, PDF Optimizer and select the appropriate settings.

Thanks for the suggestion. Have tried all types of combinations but still cannot get anywhere near the size of a pdf created via MS Word 2000. The most PDF Optimizer seems to do is to bring the size of a pdf created direct in Acrobat 8 Pro down to approx 2.5 times that of the same document scanned into MS Word 2000 and then printed at a pdf file.

I don't understand why Acrobat 8 Pro should be so size heavy compared to using a 3rd party interface.

Any ideas ??
