Hi

I need to create multiple pdf/a files from multiple files existing in various formats (e.g. *.doc, *.xls, but also standard *.pdf). Can this be done with Acrobat 9 (Standard) by right-clicking on the files (lots of files at the same time) in the explorer window? (I do not have the program yet, so I can't try it out.)

Are there other ways of doing this? If possible, I would want to avoid opening each file in the original application and then save it as pdf/a.

Thanks,

Gili

After having finally managed to install the trial version, it turns out that it is not possible to convert files to pdf_a (the archive format) by right-clicking on them (irrespective of file type, e.g. .doc or .pdf). Only normal pdf files are created, but not pdf_a files. Unless some adjustments need to be made in the main program (i.e. Acrobat 9), which then become valid also, when the program is not running.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

You'll need to set the PDF/A setting in your Preferences first. Edit > Preferences > Convert to PDF category. Select Microsoft Word Office from the Converting to PDF list then select the Edit Settings ... button. In the Adobe PDF Setting pulldown dialog select the PDF/A setting you'd like to use.Note, that changing this setting will affect all the PDFs that you create from Word.
