Powerpoint 2007 -> Acrobat 9.0 Pro (not Extended) : animations

I have a Powerpoint 2007 file with some simple "Appear" animations. When I convert them using the

Powerpoint Acrobat Tab --> Create PDF feature
_or_
Desktop -> Right Click PPT/PPTX file -> Convert to PDF
_or_
File --> Save As PDF

the animations do not get converted. In full-screen or regular PDF reading mode, all the items that should appear upon mouse clicks show up at once. We are testing Acrobat 9.0 Pro (not Extended) at my company.

We used to have Office 2003 and Acrobat 7.0 Pro. In that configuration, some animations did convert from Powerpoint 2003 into PDF. There were problems with sequencing and some animations not converting. With Office 2007/Acrobat 9.0 Pro no animations convert. Within Acrobat, Edit --> Preferences --> Full Screen Setup --> Full Screen Transitions --> Ignore All Transitions is _not_ checked

Again, I'm not doing anything complicated. The simplest PPT animation, Appear on Click, is not converting.

Advice and suggestions appreciated.

Thanks. I tried saving it from PPT 2007 as a PPT2003 file and then converting the PPT2003 to PDF by right-click--> convert to PDF, still no animations. I gather the PPT has to be created with native PPT2003?Any ideas why this feature was taken away? I liked being able to use small PDFs in meetings and for protected distribution instead of large PPT files. I encouraged my colleagues to convert their talks to PDF for these reasons.

Actually, I was unaware that this was no longer a part of the conversion process until I was researching your question. I'll see if I can find out the reasoning on this one.
