Hi, Publisher implies graphics/image usage. When processing any authoring file that has images/graphics to PDF a load is placed on the local machine graphics card. If the image/graphic footprint in the authoring file is heavy then this load is significant.
If the local machine use integrated (with mother board) graphics it takes very little to bog things down. If a basic, stand alone, graphics card is used the process is slow. If a robust, stand alone, graphics card is used the process is quicker. Even so, if the graphics/image footprint is heavy it can take awhile.
