Scanning into Acrobat

Hello,

I've seen how you can print a file with the /t switch using Acrobat...
I'm wondering if there is a way to open the scan window in Acrobat from a command line (create pdf - from scanner).

I want to be able to do this when a user hits a 'one touch' scan button on a scanner. I've got the scanner button programming down, but I need a command line interface for Acrobat to finish this...

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jeff

SO, if I understand you correctly...

1. you have some scanner hooked up (what brand/model)

2. it is connected via USB / SCSI/ FIREWIRE / Networked (please do tell)

3. You may have Acrobat Launched (or not ?)

4. the scanner supports "one touch" - in that you feel there is some button on it that should initiate scanning and either...

A. Scan, convert the scan to PDF - prowly using a PDF Lib - then open it in Acrobat ?

B. Somehow launch Acrobat and exposed some TWIN Dialog box for settings ?

I need more information, but I do think it would involve

1. creating a driver (or downloading the one that is available for that scanner)

2. Modifying the TWAIN driver (or using the TWAIN Driver with some other app or plug-in)

3. I really do not see Acrobat having much to do with this, as most scanners can insert a TIFF or JPEG into a PDF Wrapper without Acrobat even being installed, but...

this is what we resell to our customers, and none (really, none) use the one touch button feature, as they normally batch scan but with specific settings that vary per job and need to go to a specifc location on the network...

What version of Acrobat are you using? Starting Acrobat 9, Acrobat integrates with the scan button of the scanner. You should see it as an option when you press the scan button on the scanner)
