Scanning with Paperport and without Windows Twain interface

I am having trouble using the Paperport 10 interface scanning within Adobe Acrobat 8.1.1 Professional. I am running Windows XP Professional sp2. The Windows twain compliant interface works but it is horribly cumbersome. I like the Paperport interface, but it will not work. I keep getting an Adobe Acrobat error "The unit is not supported." The unit is a Dell MFP 3115cn, which came with Paperport 10. I've contacted, Dell, Nuance and Adobe and every one points the finger the other way. If I cannot get the Paperport interface to work, does anyone else know of a 3rd party interface that might work for scanning with my Dell MFP from within Adobe?
Thanks,
M. Lerner

Do you experience any issues with your TWAIN driver from any other application besides Acrobat? Have you tried a WIA driver (Windows Image Acquisition)?
Also, try changing "User Interface" under "Scanner Options" from "Hide Scanner's Native Interface" to "Show Scanner's Native Interface" in Acrobat to see if this helps.

I switched to a network connection and now I use the Dell's interface to scan to my computer in pdf format. Here there are default settings so I don't need to use the cumbersome Windows twain interface.
Thanks
