Scanning to PDF and McAfee On-Access Scanner

I have recently started having trouble scanning to a PDF. The McAfee On-Access Scanner appears to be scanning each image before it is passed on to Acrobat. This consumes nearly all of the system resources and can take up to 5 minutes to complete.

I never had this problem until a couple of weeks ago. So, I suspect it is a result of a recent automatic update of the McAfee AV software. If I disable the On-Access scanner everything works as it should.

The problem seems to be unique to Acrobat as I have no problems scanning with other applications.

I am using: Win XP, Acrobat 6.0 Std, McAfee Enterprise 8.5.0i

The scanner is a Lexmark X7170.

I had already tried the suggestions in that thread. It did not work.

The problem seems to be before the pdf file is created. As I said in the original post, the McAfee appears to be scanning the image before it is passed to Acrobat for the pdf creation.

The problem is unique to Acrobat. The scanner came with a productivity suite that will allow be to scan directly to a pdf file without using Acrobat. That works just fine. However, it is very clumbsy to use.

The only way I can scan using Acrobat (without taking 5 minutres per page) is to disable the McAfee OnAccess scanner. Even that is tiresome because it turns itself back on after a few minutes.
