Can you save your Word file as RTF?
Try turning off the "Enable Accessibility and Reflow with Tagged Adobe PDF" in the PDFMaker macro to correct the problem.

No, I can save it as RTF but then not able to open the RTF file.

I am able to generate PDF file without tagging BUT in that case TOC link will not be accessible, so need to generate with Tagging only.

It sounds as though your file has become corrupt if you cannot open the RTF file. If you need to create "Accessible" PDFs for screen reading devices then you can try cutting and pasting the Word document into a new Word file to see if it corrects the issue. Otherwise, turning of "Accessibility and Reflow..." does not affect the creation of hypertext links in a PDF.

I have tried to copy all content to other file but still I am getting the same problem. I have tried turning off TAGS but then generated PDF files are without links.

Hi,

Maybe you need to recover the pdf file. There is a tool called Advanced PDF Repair. I have used it to repair many corrupt PDF files successfully. Its homepage is http://www.datanumen.com/apdfr/ Hope this helps.

I had exactly the same error message (and using Word 2003 / Acrobat 7). I was only trying to convert a 135 page manual (and keep the accessibility tags in tact). The Word document itself is only 8.5mb.

When Adobe converts a .doc file to a PDF, first it converts the document to an RTF. It took me all day today of testing & searching, but I tracked my issue down to the RTF file being too large. When that corrupted table error happens, check your C:\Documents and Settings\(Name)\Local Settings\Temp\ directory. See any 512mb (524,287kb) PdM***.tmp files? Those are the RTF files it's attempting to create. When they get to be too big (524,287kb) it throws an error.

The problem is that when you insert an image into an MS Word document, two copies of the image are saved in the document. One copy is the GIF/PNG/JPEG - the other is a WMF (Windows Metafile).

The solution is to have MS Word disable the saving of the WMF image into the document. It is a new registry entry, so if you're not familiar I would suggest asking your IT person for help. Below is the URL to the article that has the solution:

I had a similar problem and it was driving me nuts. The file size of Word I was working with was 66MB, 28 pages only, but lots of high-res images.
Using Word 2003, Acrobat 8.1.6, XP
Followed the solution as indicated by 508H8R, to disable the saving of the WMF image into the document (registry changes, as indicated on the URL link) and...had my document converted into PDF easily.
Thanks for posting this solution, saved me a lot of grief...

Hello everybody, please I need help.

I am having the same problem, but making the registry changes in the registry has not solved the problem.

My case:
I need to convert an imagery catalogue I have in Word2003. The difference here with your case is that my file size is much larger. I splitted the catalogue into three volumes, each with a filesize of ~340MB.

If I disable the tagging function, the PDF are created. But if I enable the tagging function, then I get the error of the tables corrupted and I find the 512MB(524,287kb) "PdM***.tmp" file in the temporal folder. Also, a strange remark is that one volume of 342MB is created (even with tagging on) without problems; but the other two volumes, of 340MB and 338MB produce the error and are not created.

Is there a filesize limit for converting to PDF?
Why is the tagging function triggering the error?
What solutions could I try?

I will be very grateful for any help. My boss waits for the catalogue...

Regards and thanks again.

Pablo.
