TIF to PDF Errors

I have a Sharp network copier that can scan to TIF format and then the files can be download to a local workstation via http. In my previous version of Acrobat Pro (version 6) I was able to create the PDF's from the TIF's that came from this scanner. Version 8 will not convert the image to a PDF. I contacted Adobe but no one seemed to be able to help. I've searched the internet and that did nothing but confuse me more.

I think the problem has something to do with the TIF format and compression. I've played with the import settings on the TIF format in Acrobat and so far nothing seems to work.

What happened in the newer version that I can no longer open those files?

Are you getting any error when try to import the TIFF file? What process are you using to import the file and what OS are you using?

Just that the file is damaged or corrupt. I did manage to use a utility to figure out that the TIF compression is CCITT 3FAX. I think this is what's causing all the problems. Despite the claim that Acrobat 8 is CCITT 3Fax compatible apparently it's not. In all the settings, the compression settings choices are always CCITT 4.

Some of the Sharp copiers also support Super G3, which compresses the TIFF with JBIG and other compression methods. Perhaps this is where the problem is occuring. What copier model are you using?
