View Generated PDF in Acrobat not working

Hi,

This is my first posting. I am using Acrobat and Reader 8 on Windows XP Pro system with service pack 2. I make PDFs from Framemaker 7.2 files.

On the Settings tab of the PDF Setup for Selected Files dialog box there is a View Generated PDF in Acrobat check box, which I have selected. However, the PDF does not automatically open when the PDF is generated.

In addition, on the Adobe PDF Settings tab of the Adobe PDF Printing Preferences dialog box I have selected the View Adobe PDF Results check box.

No matter what I have tried, the PDF does not automatically open after generation. I have to double-click the PDF myself.

I have worked elsewhere (where I am now is a new job) where I have used this check box and it has worked. So I know it's doable.

I have tried the Adobe help, and I have searched this forum, but nothing has come up with the words I am using in my searches.

I create a lot of PDFs. Whatever time/keystrokes I can save would be very helpful so I want to make this capability work.

Is there some other setting somewhere that I am forgetting/don't know about?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Pat

Have you tried turning on the "View PDF when using Distiller" Preference setting in Distiller?
