Web Capture Secure Pages in Acrobat 9?

Is there a way to capture secure web pages for which I have the security credentials (username and pass) in Acrobat 9 Mac? Alternately, is there a way to set the print function in the OS so that "Print to PDF" will print the PDF via Acrobat instead of through the Finder?

Thanks,
Nicole

When requesting a web page that requires a login, Acrobat 9 Pro should ask for the username and password for that site/page. (I just confirmed this on my Mac, with OS X 10.5.8 and Acrobat Pro 9.1.3).

As for the second question, about printing to PDF on Mac OS X 10.5 and earlier using Acrobat 9 instead of using Apple's own Save as PDF, you still need to choose the Adobe PDF printer and then print to that. To save one extra click, I set the Adobe PDF printer to be my default. Another approach to simplify things might be to create an Automator action that prints to the Adobe PDF printer.

So, since my reply, Apple have shipped Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. And with it, Acrobat 9.1 Pro for Mac will now add a "Save as Adobe PDF" button command to the Print dialog box. See http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/509/cpsid_50981.php for information.

Nope, Ali--I've tried this on a number of sites for which I have credentials, and Acrobat has not once asked for the username/pass (Acrobat 8 did this, and would allow access to the password-protected parts of the site with a proper login/pass). When I've tried to enter info into login fields, I typically get no response. What, if anything, am I missing, here?

Thanks,
Nicole

If it's a page secured at server level (so you get a modal popup dialog in your web browser, and an access denied page from the webserver if you get them wrong) then Acrobat will display a dialog asking for those credentials. If the page is secured by another means, such as form fields on a login page or cookies from a previous session, then it won't understand how to deal with that.

Also, bear in mind that some websites watch the User Agent string in requests, and display different pages (or block access) if it doesn't match one of the expected "web browser" strings.

When I try to download I get a page with login credentials. I have to go to each page, login and then it will continue downloading. Is there a way to automate or script the login, or is there a way to assure a cookie stays in place to prvent this?
