Word 2003 PDF creation not working

In Outlook 2003 and Excel 2003 "Create PDF icons" work normally. But Word 2003 is now a problem.

Clicking the Icon, or using the menu bar, gets a screen flash and then Word 2003 reduces to a box with just the 3 boxes you see in the upper right corner of a Windows screen. No PDF.

I downloaded the trial of Nitro PDF, since removed, and had the same result. Word 2003 came preloaded on this 2 month old computer. I'm guessing, SWAG, that something is set to conflict with Adobe.

Any ideas?
