Is there an easy way to add a new pdf file to an existing portfolio without first saving to my desktop? Currently, I print my file to Adobe and I would like to name the file and save it directly into a portfolio. So far, all I've been able to do is save the file to my desktop, then open the portfolio and drag my new file to the portfolio, save it, then I have to go back to my desktop and delete the file..any help would be appreciated.

If you're "printing" to the Adobe PDF printer (Distiller) then by definition you must be saving a PDF file someplace - that's what it does. The only situations where Acrobat will hold a purely-temporary document is when you use the UI tools inside Acrobat to create a new file, for example by opening an image or Word document from Acrobat's toolbar or menu. Even in these cases the file isn't completely in RAM, it lives in your OS temporary files folder until you choose where to save it.

With some rare exceptions for special cases (such as archiving emails using the PDFMaker plugin), Acrobat and Distiller cannot save a document directly into a PDF Portfolio - only to disk.
