Edit PDF Portfolio pane does not display when I want to edit

Hi,

When I open/create a portfolio, my Edit PDF Porfolio pane does not display. Even when I select "Modify" and "Edit Porfolio." The Add Files and other buttons do display along the bottom of the porfolio, so I know it's in editing mode.

Since the pane on the right does not display, however, I have no way that I can see of creating a Welcome Page, Headers, etc.

It seems like this should be a very simple thing to re-display, but I just can't figure out how to do it. Perhaps there is a setting I changed to cause this? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Danielle Strom

Does this happen with all your portfolio files? Have you tried Repairing your Acrobat installation from under the Help menu?

It was happening with all of them, but I did not try the repair installation. I will do so when I have a chance, and we'll see if that works.

Thanks!

Danielle, did you have any success getting the Edit Portfolio pane to show up?
Looks like I have the same problem. Having never used portfolios before, I don't even know what it looks like or where it should be.
I've tried View options, Preferences, context menus, etc. There is nothing on the screen that has Layout choices.

I was asking on behalf of someone else, so I will see if he's tried the repair installation yet.

I have just installed Acrobat 9 Standard and am going through the Classroom In A Book training workbook. Lesson 5 introduces Portfolio and that is where I am having problems. The Edit PDF Portfolio pane does not display when I click File > Create PDF Portfolio. I have downloaded the latest updates (9.3.1) and run the Repair Acrobat Installation and I still can not get the pane to display.

Hi all,

I'm thinking this was a version misunderstanding.

After looking more closely at the differences between Standard and Pro, it implies that Standard can read portfolios, but not edit their Welcome Pages, etc.

If true, that would explain why I didn't get the Portfolio task pane, and other Standard users cannot either.

This is the theory I'm working under now with this situation. :-)

You're correct, Standard and Reader allow you to read Portfolios. However, you'll need Pro. to create them.
