I have converted most of my business emails into various PDF portfolios. Many of these emails had attachments. Many of these attachments were not PDFs. I subsequently deleted all the original emails and their attachments. The attachments are still present in the created portfolios even though the original attachment no longer exists - how is this possible? Don't get me wrong - this is a good thing but I want to make sure that I didnt just make a big mistake by deleting all the original emails.

This would also apply for example if I had a PDF porfolio with some associated photos and excel documents, then I deleted the original photos or excel documents. Would they then be deleted from the portfolio?

When you add a file into a PDF Portfolio, it makes a copy of the original. So it doesn't have any affect on the Portfolio if you delete the original from your file system.
