I have Adobe 8 Pro and was combining files as Packages instead of multipages. I then did some research and heard that the Package feature isnt offered in 9? Is this true? Does that mean any package I create with 8 isnt supported by 9 or future versions? And if this feature was removed was there something better to replace it?

AFAIK "Packages" have been replaced with "Portfolios" in Version 9 - a different way of doing similar things. A Package created in v8 can still be opened in v9.
