7.1.0 File, Print, Select Printer Screen Takes Forever To Appear

Scenario: I have a 3 page PDF open, just a scanned text document, nothing fancy, click on File, then Print, and it takes 15 seconds for the next screen to pop up which is where you select your printer & click OK. Other pc's it comes up instantly. Any ideas? Thanks.

Are your printers networked? Windows can introduce a little timeout delay if it has to connect to a remote printer that's somehow not available.

It's attached to the pc with a parallel cable, setup as a local printer to LPT3 & marked as shared for others to use. Good question.

RESOLVED! I researched this until my head hurt but finally found the fix for my problem. I deleted printers with invalid names! In printers & faxes, I had recently renamed a few printers. As soon as I deleted them, wah lah, the time it took to get from the printer icon to choose your printer was instant! Yay!
