I am experiencing the same problem. I am running Windows Vista and I have only 1 network printer. The default printer was originally set to the HP 7310 all in one but somehow (on it's own) the default printer was changed to Adobe PDF and my HP 7310 is no longer listed as one of my printers. When I run my HP utility software, it states that no HP devices were detected. I also can no longer find the printer listed in my network folder or in the printer folder. Please help.
Several people in my company are having the same problem. All the printers are visible when it happens. It happens every time Acrobat is chosen as the printer.
Has anyone resolved this issue? I am having the same problem. My default printer returns to the adobe pdf printer usually after I print to pdf or create a pdf . I have windows xp pro, sp2. I also have CS3 and Adobe Reader 8.
Do you have any other programs that create PDF on your systems? Do you have any program that control what printers certain programs use?
Reply: The only application I have seen this happen on is MS Word 2003. It may be happening on other versions as well, but I don't know that. The default printer change happens when the Convert to PDF button on the tool bar is used, but I think it's safe to say that if you use the File/Print menu, the problem doesn't occur. As I have mentioned, Open Office 3.1 has a feature that converts a document to PDF, and I have used it quite a bit, but I haven't seen it change default printer designations. I'm going to do more testing on this, this afternoon, and I'll get back to you.
Help! I have two users that have the same problem. Every time they print a pdf file, the default printer changes to adobe pdf. They both use xp and adobe 8 standard. I have applied the latest updates and this did not seem to make a difference. The users are upset that they have to change their default printer back again. I see that there are a few users with the same problem. They get the PDF file to print but after that, they have to reset there default printer in order to print.
