I am using Acrobat 8 Pro on Vista. When I select Adobe PDF as the printer, it successfully creates the document, but then still leaves the document behind in the print queue with an "Error - Printing" status. Anyone seen this?

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8.1.5, Windows

I had a similar problem a long time ago, the task bar icon still showed with an error message.

I have checked my PDF printer in the configuration panel (in Windows, not in Acrobat) and changed the printed files log/journal parameters. After that, the task bar icon with the error message did not show up anymore.

Maybe you could check your print parameters too.

In Windows : "start" --> "computer" --> "open configurations panel" (look carefully the blue option buttons just under the "file/edit/help...." tabs)Maybe your problem comes from your PDF printer parameters too.

Yes. (https://acrobat.com/#d=1eFkO-K2lLBwKGV0uZKq3A)

Instead of that just do this : "START" ----> "RUN" ---> type "control" in the field and hit OK.The control panel will show up. Then in "Hardware & Sound" click for printers.Right-click your Acrobat PDF virtual printer and check the properties configuration, maybe your problem could be solved here.

Hope it helps you.

Check "Printer properties" port setting. Right click "Adobe PDF" printer > "Printer properties" > "Ports" tab. Port should be set to one of the Adobe PDF port.

Beginning with Windows Vista (and also true for Windows 7), the Adobe PDF PostScript printer driver instance must have its Advanced=>Spool Print Documents ... setting to Start printing immediately instead of either of the other settings. The other settings will yield the behaviour that you describe.- Dov
