Batch Print PDF to PDF

I have some PDF files that I haevno control over how they are produced. I use ISIToolBox to merge 300-400 sinlge and double pages inot one file. The files are large and slow to manipulate.

I've tried various Optimize settings (Acrobat Pro 7) but they have no effect. The only thing that reduces the size is reprinting to PDF. They go for 15-20 megs to 3-4 megs.

Is there a wayt ot batch print ot PDF without user intervention since I have hundreds of these merged files to manage? I can't seem to fgure out how to do this via the batch processing.

It is not recommended to re-convert your PDF files using the method that you suggest. You can lose a lot of important data within the original PDF (i.e., bookmarks, hyperlinks, compression information, etc.). When you Audit Space Usage ... in the Optimizer menu, what is the PDF mainly comprised of?

You would be better off tweeking the Optimizer settings and then running a batch sequence with these settings.

I know I will lose information. I export bookmarks via a plugin first

the breakdown is:

Images 5.45%
bookmarks: 0.5%
content streams 39%
fonts 1.4%
acrobat forms 41%
document overhead 6.8%
extended graphic states 0.2%
cross reference table 6%

Looks like the forms fields are adding to the size. No wonder your file size is so much smaller when you re-distill the file -- you're losing all your form information, correct?
There are a couple of things you can do in Optimizer with form fields:
1) Flatten Form Fields (if you don't need them to be interactive anymore)
or
2) Remove form fields (if you don't need them anymore)

You can try these settings under the Optimizer on a copy of your PDF to see if this helps to reduce the file sizes.

Actually I do not lose the info. These files on screen appear to be images. If I use the select tool I can't select text. They are in AFPL Ghoastscript 813

Do you need the ability to fill the form fields out still?

Ok, I would try flattening them with the Optimizer. You'll still be able to search on the form field text (if they were filled in) and select it.
