Black and White printer preferences are over ridden

Hi.
Can anyone help please? This is driving me mad!

I am using using a networked printer.
Server Machine running small biz server 2003
Client machines running xp pro

Various printer drivers are set up (on all machines) ... they all point to the same physical printer, however, they allow me to choose a pre set configuration on that printer ... ie ... colour, or black and white, or certian paper tray.

The problem I have is I cannot get any pdf file to print in Black and white at all.

When printing, the print dialogue box will allow me to choose a mono printer driver. When I manually check in the printer properties (either via the print dialogue box or directly on the printer driver), I am able to confirm that the black and White radio box is (already) selected.

Regardless, the document prints in colour. This only happens with pdf files; everything else prints out in black and white when using this driver and method.

Can anyone help with this please at all??

Thanks
Paul

Hi Isaacs,

Thank you for taking the the time to read my post and lend your assistance.

The printer is a Canon iRC2100. Its a laser copier printer duplexer type affair. I think it might make the tea if I ask it nicely!

I am not familiar with what postscripting is and cannot answer that one, but I suspect that it is a postscript as the installation engineer was muttering about it to himself ( now that was a long time ago .. I'm surprised I remember!)

The advanced settings dont show much which looks promising. This issue is only present with PDF's and I am a little reluctant to guess the results of some of these settings and then break it.

The most promising one looks like it is:

Colour Mode: Currently set to Printers Default ... other options are CMYK and Greyscale

Other possibilites could be:

Image Colour Management ... however, options are curently greyed out
RGB source profile
CMYK Simulation Profile
CMYK Simulation Method
Output Profile
Black Over Print
Spot Colour Matching

Does any of this mean anything to you? Most of the above is set to Printers Default

Thanks for your help again.
