Can I set a property to print a background colour as white?

I have a pdf document with a grey background in keeping with my company image. Is there a property I can set such that when a reader wishes to print the document, the background colour changes to white - this is purely to save the ink/time necessary to print the whole page with a grey background. Thanks.

Depending of your authoring software :

You probably need to use layers : a gray layer settled as non-printable, and another layer containing all printable objects.

Otherwise you can use the Background tool (Document menu) to add a gray (non-printable) background in your doc.
