I'm running Windows XP with Word 2007 and have Adobe v9.0. We have an old set of job options that get installed for distiller, including running a winsteng.exe for a post script driver setup, which was not created by me. We have an old set of instructions that has worked fine during all the upgrades until now. While running the post script driver setup, it asks you to select your printer model. In the past, our instructions for setup have always worked with c:/Program Files/Adobe, with distiller being an option. This isn't an option now, and it creates Generic PostScripter Printer.
My question is, when in Word, and I want to send the file to Distiller, if my printer option is Generic PostScript printer, is that the same as being able to select Distiller? I am able to change the name of the Generic PostScript printer during installation, but I don't know if it has the same effect. Our job options file has already been loaded into Distiller, and I am able to select it.
Are you able to select the Generic Printer 'Properties' and then browse for the Adobe PDF PPD file/driver? If memory serves me right, when you sleek this option, it will convert the postscript driver to an Adobe PDF driver? It's been a few years since I've tried this but give it a whirl ….
All the best,
Jon
I've been using Acrobat since v1.0 and still get amazed by its power. An Acrobat ACE since 1999
