I'm not exactly sure what you're looking for here but you can attach Excel spreadsheets in a PDF (Document --> Attach File). You can also use a security envelope to attach Excel spreadsheets where the file is embedded within an encrypted envelope (Advanced --> Security --> Create Secure Envelope).Hope this helps, Lori

You could use the Link tool to place an link and for the link action select "open a file". Or place a button field that is given the Action "open a file". Update versions of Adobe Reader or Acrobat will present a security alert when the either is used. But one can continue and the request to open the xls file is passed to the OS which will wake up Excel to open and render the file.
