Fonts print out 'fuzzy' from Acrobat Reader

I use InDesign CS3 to produce newsletters that are printed on a Risograph. The PC which is connected to the Risograph does not have InDesign installed so I export to PDF and then print from Acrobat Reader. However, fonts don't seem to print as solidly or sharply when I do this leading to 'fuzzy' looking text which is not so easy to read.

The same thing happens if I print the PDF from my own PC to my HP LaserJet 1020 printer. If I print direct from InDesign, the text comes out fine. If I export to a PDF first and then print that PDF from Acrobat Reader, the text is fuzzy.

Is there anything that can be done to sort this, or does text only print properly from a PDF if you print to a PostScript printer?

Would be grateful for any advice.

Somewhere with the documentation I recall

Adobe wrote:
PostScript. ®. language printer. (recommended)
or words to that effect.

A number of postscript printer definitions (ppd) for various printers can be downloaded from Adobe.
Or, from the printer manufacturer's site.

Adobe's Printer Drivers Support page "Recent documents" may be useful.
