Invisible areas printing black or gray on one printer and not another.

I would like to know if anyone else has come across this.

I have a document that it turns out has some invisible rectangles over some bits of type on some of the pages. When this document is sent to one laser printer from Adobe Reader 7 on a Windows machine the invisible areas print out black or gray. When the document is sent to a different laser printer from the same machine the document prints fine and without the invisible areas appearing. The same document prints fine form a Mac on either printer. This seems to be laser printer specific but I find it strange that it also seems to have something to do with Adobe Reader 7 on Windows.

Has anyone out there experienced this?

As a side note the file came from Prepress and I cleaned it up with Acrobat 8 by runnning a Fixups to change to colors from CMYK to RGB and tick marks and other stuff outside the trim box were removed. The the document was run through the Optimizer. I can go through manualy and start clicking over the pages in question with the Touch Up Object tool and delete these offending rectangles.

I've had that happen on my ancient HP LaserJet, printing from Acrobat Reader 4 running in Mac OS 9. Not that it helps, but my workaround has been to take the file to work and print it from the equipment there. ;)
