I found several replies that stated they couldn't find earlier version of reader. Here it is, http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/ might help with the new version headaches until they get it fixed.

Thanks for posting this link. Sometimes to download the earlier version, you may have to select an older operating system than the one you have, for exampleMac OS Intel 10.4 - 10.5 let you download Reader 9 & Reader 8.
