Margin problem with booklet printing.

I'm using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro to print a booklet. I have created a 8-page pdf using InDesign CS4, the pdf pages are A4 and there's no any margins in it. I have printed those A4 pages to A3 with duplex printer using the booklet printing feature (both sides / auto rotate on / binding left), so that the result is a A4-sized booklet. Everything looks great, except that the margins aren't mirrored. The left margin is much larger than the right margin, and centerfold isn't actually in the center of the page, which is problem when the A3 is folded. Any solutions?

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 9.4.3, Windows

The ability to print duplex is a feature of your printer not Acrobat so make sure this feature is turned on in your printer properties dialog and the options you need are set - Left binding.

Hi.

I have exactly the same problem trying to print an A5 booklet on A4 paper. I've tried changing nearly every setting I can find and nothing seems to fix it. I'm printing the front and back manually, as my printer properties dialog doesn't have the ability to print duplex. (It is a HP3050)

Based on this post, the scaling problem during booklet printing appears to be a known issue. There are a few workarounds mentioned in the other post.

I am having a similar problem. I currently print a booklet on 11x17 (fold & saddlestitch), but when trying to print the same pages using a smaller paper (8 1/2 x 11) it leaves a 1" blank margin on the top & bottom. This is a simple instruction manual, only a few pages and I would much prefer to be able to use smaller paper size. I have tried everything I can think of....Any ideas?Using: Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional
Printer: Canon iR-ADV C5030

It doesn't even work with the SAME SIZE paper! We format our monthly Memphis Mensa newsletter for booklet form on letter paper - 5.5 x 8.5, 2-up. For years we always mailed a copy to EVERY member, but our national HQ wants us to stop mailing to every member who agrees to electronic distribution. And now they want to stop mailing to every member who fails to specifically ASK for a printed copy.

Our members have MANY different kinds of printers, with many different characteristics. My personal printer (HP5510 AIO) has uneven leading (0.07") and trailing (0.46") edge minimum margins. AR-X knows this, because it shows the unequal margins "grayed out" in the preview panel. AR shrinks the pages by more than 10% - FAR MORE than necessary - and it adds outlandish, oversize margins to the actual content.

What it SHOULD do is: (1) determine the margins of the 2-up CONTENT ares based on analyzing the document characteristics; (2) determine the printable area on paper, based actual paper size and printer characteristics; then (3) truncate the 2-up image margins to center the image, with resizing ONLY AS NECESSARY for fit and centering.
