Hi, Hoping any experts can help me with what I think is a simple printing question that I just can't seem to figure out.

Let's say I have a powerpoint presentation that I've converted to PDF. Now I want to print the PDF to a printer, where I'm placing two slides (i.e. pages) on one side of a sheet of paper. So, holding the 8.5x11" paper such that the 11" dimension runs up/down (the 8.5" dimension left/right), then I'd see two slides on one side of the paper--one on top half, the other on the bottom half.

I know how to do this so far. However, the next step is my question... how do I scale the size of these two slides so that I can control how large they are? In my application, I'm printing out a hundred pages and then binding them into a book. I need enough room (margin) on the left side of the paper so that the binding doesn't eat into the slides. I find my printer either gives me a margin that's too wide (2.5" margin left/right side of paper) or too small (0.5" margin on left/right side of paper), depending on whether is use the normal print menu or dig into the postscript advanced options. Is the some way I can control the slide size when printing using Adobe professional distiller/reader?

Thanks in advance, -ggk

Have you tried the Booklet printing feature in Acrobat 8? There is a drop down under the Page Scaling area of the print menu. You can also set a custom number of pages per sheet under the Page Scaling drop down.

Thanks Ikassuba,

Yes I tried all the options under Page scaling. The Booklet option is when you want to fold the page in half and make a booklet out of it (which I don't want). The right setting for me is Multiple Pages, for which I select 2. However, there's a default slide size associated with doing this. My question is how do I change this default size so I can allow room for the binding that eats up some of the left side of the page?

I would think I can go into the Advanced options tab (after clicking properties), and set scaling to something less than 100%, but this doesn't seem to work.

Hi ggk001

It looks as though you need dedicated imposition software to perform this task. The options for fitting multiple pages onto a sheet seems to be hard crunched without any specifics to change.

You can either work backstream if these pages are from Adobe InDesign and use the 'Booklet' option there with more control or if its Acrobat then why not take a look at 'Quite Imposing' or 'PDF Snake' - they provide some great options for imposition at a simple level ..

Cheers!
