No printing from 8.1, but did from 7.x

I recently upgraded from version 7.x of Acrobat to 8.1. I am now unable to print .pdf files to my Lexmark Optra R+ printer. All was fine under 7x., but under 8.x it never spits out a page. I have the most current drivers for the printer. It is running Postscript Level 2, through a DLink network print server. My other printers seem unaffected. This problem exists on bothy Acrobat 8.1 Pro on my main computer, as well as reader 8.x on another computer. Any ideas?

Doug

I have a feeling that A8 is attempting to force you to PostScript LanguageLevel 3 with some funky LangLevel 3 operator that is causing the printer to choke (actual technical term ;) giving an OffendingCommand error.

In the Advanced printing dialog (Advanced button in the A8/R8 printing dialog, force the output back to LanguageLevel II (2) and see if that helps.

As a last ditch effort, please make sure that the Error Handler on the printer is enabled. Try and post the results.

I opened the Advanced Settings button in the print dialog and it was already set to Postscript Level 2. No luck there.

I tried turning on error debug print output in the printer driver as well, but sending anything from A8 is causing me to need to power cycle the printer, so I was unable to get any information. Do you have any other way to get at the Postscript error codes?

It does print if I tell it to send it as an image, but this is of course very slow. I tried disabling all of the other options the postscript section to no avail either.

Other ideas?

Thanks,
Doug
